Sleep Apnea Treatment

Sleep apnea is a serious condition that actually has a lot to do with your dental health. If you’ve received a sleep apnea diagnosis from a medical professional, Healthy Roots Dentistry can help with treatment.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a sleeping disorder that could potentially become very serious if not treated quickly. Treatment is usually effective, easing symptoms and even preventing heart complications.

Symptoms

If you have sleep apnea, your breathing at night is probably irregular, constantly stopping and starting up again. If you wake up frequently in the night, feel tired after a night’s sleep, or if your partner is troubled by your loud snoring, you may be exhibiting signs of sleep apnea.

Most of these symptoms are hard to catch by yourself, and will most likely be identified by a bed partner or family member. If you don’t have a bed partner but are worried you may have sleep apnea, talk to your general doctor and they can administer some tests.

Effects of Sleep Apnea

Besides interfering with your sleep schedule and causing fatigue, sleep apnea can have dangerous consequences on your overall health, particularly your heart. People with sleep apnea are also at a greater risk for high blood pressure and even strokes.

Laser Treatment

If you’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea by your doctor, you can come to Healthy Roots Dentistry for laser treatment. We’ll use a soft tissue laser to tighten the skin in your throat, effectively opening up your airway so more air can get in and out. You’ll need to have a diagnosis before coming in in order to receive this treatment.
